On behalf of the SKG testing and certification institute, Mr. van Dartel will take you into the world of certification and testing of door hardware and locking products. You will gain insight into the background and meaning of the SKG stars, how door hardware and locking products are tested and certified, and the role of SKG-IKOB as an independent testing and certification body.
The presentation will also explain the relationship between SKG certification and other forms of certification, quality marks and regulations. Take a practical look behind the scenes at a system that has contributed to the quality and burglary resistance of door hardware, locking products and façade elements for many years.
Training: The latest threat: opening cylinders with acid
Mr. Niemeijer will give an impressive live demonstration of a relatively new burglary method that is becoming increasingly common across Europe: opening cylinders using highly corrosive acid. This spectacular demonstration will show how criminals use this technique and why this type of attack represents a growing risk.
This method is literally and figuratively shrouded in mystery. Relatively little is known about it, and the fumes released during an attack can be dangerous to both people and animals. The police and fire services therefore advise keeping a safe distance when traces of this corrosive acid are found on a door or cylinder following a burglary. This makes it particularly valuable to see this type of attack up close under controlled conditions and gain a better understanding of how it works.
Training: Lock opening techniques
While M&C is known for its exceptional resistance to destructive burglary methods, Barry Wels focuses on the world of non-destructive entry techniques. During his presentation, you will be introduced to techniques such as lockpicking, impressioning, foil methods, and other advanced opening techniques. Under the microscope, you will see the barely visible traces left behind by these tools.
You will also have the opportunity to try out several techniques yourself and experience how challenging it can be to open a cylinder lock without a key. Increasing resistance to techniques such as lockpicking, impressioning, foil methods, and other advanced manipulation techniques is an essential part of our product development.
